BCS offers several levels of lessons. Each require a different age and skill range. If you are a NEW student, please sign up for an Intensive, more information here. If you believe that your child does not need an intensive, please call or email our office to set up a FREE evaluation class.
At the end of every month, skills are sent out to parents to show student progression and what skills are needed to progress to the next level. Skills are unique to each student and up to the discretion of the instructor.
Lessons are listed below:
Parent-Child Classes
Infants and toddlers, 4-30 months, will start swimming with mom or dad! 4-5 months swim for free once a week. We offer three levels:
Level One, everyone enrolls in this class first. Level One, PC1, is an introduction to the water where we look for signs of readiness in breath control and comfort.
Level Two, after the instructor deems ready. Level Two, PC2, is all about independence in the water while trying new things to eventually get the parent/guardian out of the water.
Level Three, first-class without parents. Level Three, PC3, students are working on all the skills that you would find in a Preschool Beginner class. Once the child turns three, they age out of their PC3 class and move into a PB class. If the child turns 2.5 years old, if they are able to pass a float test they will move to Preschool Intermediate.
Preschool Beginner
Our 2.5 – 5-year-olds will be enrolled in Preschool Beginner classes.
This level focuses on body position while floating, rolling over to their back and independent floating for 5 minuets, breath control (exhaling underwater or “bubbles”), recovery float, some freestyle body position, and body control/awareness.
To pass this level, a float test is required. For more information on float tests, click here.
Preschool Intermediate
Our 2.5 to 5-year-olds who leveled out of Preschool Beginner will join our Preschool Intermediate class, per exit skills, float test, and teacher discretion.
This level focuses on extended streamline glides (exhaling underwater), proper freestyle kicks (straight, fast, little, and on top of the water), jump turn and swim to wall, and independent freestyle swim with proper streamline form across the width of the pool.
